Road layout in the orchard

A lot of transport activities take place in the orchard, such as delivering fertilizers, water or ready-made liquids for disease and pest control, commuting for the purpose of carrying out nursing procedures and fruit removal. Therefore, rational layout of internal roads in an orchard with a larger area, enabling quick and easy access to each accommodation, is essential. Depending on the general area of the orchard and the shape of the field, it may be advisable to run a road surrounding the entire orchard and one or more roads intersecting the orchard inside., in a direction parallel to the direction of the rows. These are the main roads, from which side branches are led in number and spacing depending on the size of the quarters. Main roads should be wide 5-6 m. It is advisable to harden the surface of the main roads with slag, gravel or other material suitable for the purpose. The cross roads between the quarters also cannot be too narrow, so as not to obstruct the turning of the machines. In large orchards, the main roads should be planned in this way, that the vehicles can pass each other along their entire length or on specially provided passing bars.
