The size of the orchard has to be considered depending on the type of user. The criteria for socialized farms are different, others for group orchards belonging to several producers, and others for self-managed fruit growers. The opinion prevails among specialists, that in socialized farms, such an orchard is optimal in terms of size, which produces approx 4000 tons of fruit per year; which should correspond to the area 250-300 he has. An orchard with such a fruit production ensures the full profitability of all, even the most expensive investments and gives the opportunity to employ a team of highly qualified specialists. At the same time, it allows you to reduce production costs to a minimum 1 kg of fruit without causing any organizational difficulties, which usually appear after exceeding the optimal production volume. On socialized farms, and especially in state-owned enterprises, in principle, no orchards smaller than 100 he has. In recent years, several orchards with an area above have been established on farms nationalized in Poland 500 he has. These orchards have not yet entered the period of fruiting. When this happens – They will provide a practical answer to the question of the optimal size of orchards in this group of farms. Practice shows, that also in state-owned enterprises, orchards located on specialized farms do the best, not burdened with other large sections of plant or livestock production.
