Due to the later difficulties in carrying out cultivation treatments, it is not advisable to plant orchards on slopes with an inclination exceeding 12-15 °.. Orchards can be established on steeper slopes, provided that terraces are made. Building terraces, sufficiently wide, to ensure the passage of machines, however, it is expensive and does not solve all the difficulties that arise in the exploitation of an orchard growing on a steep slope. Having a choice, it is better not to plant orchards on the south facing slopes, on which the vegetation begins the earliest. Detailed observations show, however, that the importance of displaying the area on which the orchard grows should not be overestimated. Flat areas, especially in areas with low altitude variation, they are also useful for orchards and berries.
