A specific set of farm buildings is required in an orchard. It includes rooms for machines and tools; warehouses for fertilizers and plant protection chemicals, rooms for sorting and packing fruit (if it is foreseen to sell them shortly after harvest) possibly a cold store with a packing room for long-term storage of fruit and a room for packaging. You also need a room, where you can wash and change after work. When planning farm buildings in the orchard, and not, for example, next to a housing estate lying elsewhere, it is advisable to locate them in the center of the orchard. Such location of buildings allows to reduce empty runs to a minimum. This is especially important in very large orchards.
