Rose (Rose L.) for it is a race exceedingly rich, represented by many wild-growing species, mainly in the temperate zone of the Northern Hemisphere. There is no consensus among botanists regarding the number of these species. The most modest number is estimated at 100, and most generously on the mountain 300. The Crepin and Boulanger classification systems are the most commonly used.
In practice, roses are divided into several groups, which, moreover, has already been mentioned previously, and so: wild roses, park roses, climbing roses, bouquet roses and large-flowered roses. Such a division, mainly based on their application, it is generally accepted in most publications intended for practice; it also appears in the catalogs of leading specialist companies.
WILD ROSES
To this group, as it appears from the name, all species growing wild in our country are included, so native and long domesticated. Such species in our country are growing 23, but only a few have found wider application. The most valuable of them are these, the usefulness of which for practice is as wide as possible. We will put species at the forefront of this group, which are commonly used in nursery production as rootstocks. They belong to such: wild rose - Rosa canina L., róża rdzawa - Rosa rubiginosa L. and multiflorous rose – Rosa multiflora Thunb. Listed species, apart from mass use in nursery, they are a wonderful material for all trees in the open landscape, and also for park layouts. Their inherent qualities, as high resistance to unfavorable weather conditions, low soil requirements, healthy and strong growth, high disease resistance and ease of reproduction from seeds, which they tie abundantly - they make, that they are extremely valuable plants. During the flowering period, especially when planted in a large mass, they give results, about which many outstanding specialists and enthusiasts express their greatest admiration.
Then we include species in this group, which, however, are not applicable as backing material, but because they have the advantages of the species mentioned above – they are planted on a large scale in all landscapes and parks. Here at the head we will mention the wrinkled rose - Rosa rugosa Thunb., which in this application has gained enormous popularity. Still more important species are: garland rose - Rosa cinnamomea L., red rose - Rosa rubrifolia Vill, dense-thorny rose - Rosa spinossima L., french rose - Rosa gallica L.. and apple rose - Rosa pomifera Herrm.
To complete the short description of these species please add, that their fruit is used in the pharmaceutical industry and processing for the production of vitamin preparations and fruit preserves; because they contain significant amounts of vitamin C..
