Mineral fertilization of herbs is similar to the fertilization of individual groups of vegetable plants. Mixed fertilizers are the best for herbal plants, e.g.: Fruit, Azofoska, Flora, WHAT. One-component fertilizers can also be used, remembering, that phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are usually given in the fall, and nitrogen fertilizers – several times during plant vegetation.
As for the place of herbs in the crop rotation, root crops and cucurbits are good forecrops for most of them, while bad – root and bulb vegetables due to the one-sided sterilization of the soil from nutrients.
The vast majority of herbs react negatively to the acidic reaction of the soil, therefore, the stands intended for their cultivation should be limed once every 2…3 years, in the amount of 1.5…2 kg of lime per 10 m2.
Some species of herbal plants should be grown from the seedlings produced in the inspection (possibly on a sunny windowsill in the apartment). Belong to them: basil, lavender, marjoram, balm, peppers, rosemary and celery. The seedlings of these plants are planted into the ground in the second half of May or at the beginning of June – after the last spring frosts, remembering about its prior hardening.
