Forming angles of limb deflection

To form the right angles of limb deflection, on the guide – right above the shoots, while they are still green, flexible and approx. 10 cm (at the end of May and in June) – wooden clothes pegs are put on. Instead, they are taken off, when the shoots become lignified and fix their position, i.e.. after approx. four weeks. Clips left on longer inhibit the growth of the conductor thickness. This procedure should be performed during the first few years of crown formation. In the case of older shoots, twine bending is used, which is assumed so, so that the loops are loose and do not cut into thicker shoots, causing them to break off. The strings are removed after a few months. Shoots, which cannot be formed, should be cut.

Another condition for a strong crown structure is the minimum number of branches growing on one level. It would be ideal to keep a few centimeters distances between the individual branches. It is known, however, that cutting young trees delays their entry into the fruiting period. Some shoots are left uncut, as temporary fruiting shoots, bending them completely downwards and tying them in this position with a string. Already in the second year, they can bear the first fruits. These shoots are left for the 3rd…4 years.
