Principles of fruit selection

Selection rules. The long-term plans for the development of horticulture in Poland provide for the production of individual fruit species in the following proportions: apples – 60% pears – 5%; stone fruit -5% strawberries – 10%; other berry -10%. In different areas, and even more so in various orchards these proportions may, or even should, deviate from the national average.

Share of individual fruit species, and within them – varieties with different ripening times should be agreed with the future recipient of the fruit.
From an organizational point of view, it is advisable, to cultivate in the orchard from 3 do 5 fruit species, and several varieties of each species, at different times of fruit ripening. In this way, you can avoid excessive peaks in the need for manual labor in harvesting the fruit.
