In this breed we find varieties derived from the one bred in the year 1947 by the outstanding breeder of the Tantau variety - Garnette, distinguished by small ones, but very shapely flowers, which they produce abundantly all summer long. These flowers come in bouquets and singly, they are very full and extremely durable; make the impression of large-flowered roses "in a smaller version"; they are half the size. They belong to such: Zorina, Junior Miss, Gold Strike, Carol. In the United States, these roses are grown under glass for cut flowers on a large scale and are amazingly fertile and lively.. In our company - so far - we do not see any prospects for greenhouse or outdoor cut flower cultivation, because the tastes of our customers are better suited to the sumptuous flowers on long stems, while on flowerbeds, in discounts and in groups, these small roses do not withstand competition with other bouquet varieties Tantau distinguishes these varieties into a separate class, she calls Garnette-Baby-Rosen.
The last stage of development of bouquet roses falls on the 1950s. As a result of further breeding work to improve flowers, a number of varieties were obtained, which in this respect are not inferior to large-flowered tea hybrids. Examples: Burning Love, The Queen Elizabeth-Rose, Stella, Diamond, gold rush, Lavender Charm, Parisian charm, Sum-mer Time, Viennese waltz. The listed varieties belong to the youngest breed of bouquet roses - Rosa floribunda grandijlora hort. and are suitable for large flowerbed lots, rebate, for groups and hedges, and also for cut flower cultivation. Most of them grow healthily and strongly reaching a height of 70-90 cm.
The group of bouquet roses also includes the dwarf rose breed, the so-called. miniature, derived from Rosa chinensis var. minima (R. lavranceana Sweet). The parental variety for this breed was aged today, coming from 1820 r., Rosa rouletti Carr. long known in France as Pompon de Paris. Dwarf bouquet roses are weak (20—30 cm) - compact growth and abundant, repeated flowering. They have small flowers, 2-4 cm in diameter, with varying degrees of fullness, collected in corymbose. The color scale is rich: from white through shades of yellow and pink to dark red.
Recently, miniature roses are gaining more and more popularity in the West. They complement the exquisitely rich group of bouquet roses. However, they should be produced on weakly growing types of wild rose and red rose, and not on a multi-flower rose, on which they grow too vigorously, losing its precious value - small size.
They apply everywhere there, where low plants are needed, about compact, even growth and rich, continuous flowering. They are therefore suitable:. in. for planting graves, thus diversifying quite banal, commonly used decorations, and also for rock gardens. In the West, they are also eagerly bought as flowering houseplants. For this purpose, they are propagated from cuttings, to keep low, compact growth, and leads in small pots 8-10 cm in diameter. Roses of this breed have not gained much popularity with us so far, though they undoubtedly deserve it. The growing interest in these roses is mainly seen in rose lovers' circles, who see them as a great hobby, collecting numerous varieties today. Of the more interesting varieties, we already have in the country, must be replaced: Baby Masquerade, Carolin, For you, Rosina, dwarf king.
All breeds of bouquet roses are also used in greenhouse cultivation; they are grown as cut flowers and as flowering houseplants. The latter way of using them is completely unknown to us, although it has been popular in the West for a long time.
