Satisfaction with the apiary and compensation for costs and labor depend on the fulfillment of the following basic conditions:
– spring, even before the flight of the bees, beehives with fallen colonies after winter should be removed from the apiary, clean them, or at least block the outlets, that bees from other hives and neighboring apiaries do not penetrate them. This will prevent disease from spreading and robbery from occurring, which may be an additional cause of loss of the families of the weak. You should always remember, that robbery in the apiary lowers the harvest, enhances the malignancy of bees, makes it difficult to feed mothers;
– do not expand the nest in early spring or add food too early (syrup). When a small stock is found, it is good to refill it by removing the empty patch and inserting a spare patch, taken away from the family, who has an excess of it. Feeding or limited feeding with syrup should take place only during the flowering of the gooseberries and then, when the weather is right. Feeding with liquid food causes an excessive departure of the bees from the hive, which in bad weather conditions causes their deaths;
– separation in the honey hive or the addition of a super box may take place, if there is a lot of brood and some excess bees in the nest part.
