Bees can be purchased in the form of natural swarms, swarms created artificially – zypańców, bee families with honeycombs and a hive. The distance between the source of purchase of bees in the form of natural swarms and the planned place of their settlement may be any. However, when purchasing bees in the form of artificial swarms or bee colonies with frames or a hive, this distance may not be less than 1,5 do. Otherwise, some of the bees may fly away, and sometimes also for the theft of honey. By moving the natural swarm to the hive on the frames with a knot, it should not be poured directly onto it, but cause, that the bees and their mother may enter it by themselves. For this purpose, it is most practical to resist e.g.. a sufficiently large fiberboard with one edge on the exit bridge of the hive, and the opposite on the ground, pour bees on it and fumigate them slightly from below. Buying families together with frames is rarely used. It requires a hive with the dimensions of such frames, what does the beekeeper have, from which bees are purchased. The easiest way is to purchase bees with hives and equipment. Then you only need to secure the hive elements against sliding and provide the bees with adequate ventilation during transport. Buying hives is a bit risky though, due to the ease of transferring various bee diseases to one's apiary (foul rot. malignant foul, sourdough, varroosis, mite disease).
