Young trees bear fruit practically every year. Later, some varieties show a tendency to alternate fruiting. In the year of fruiting, the yield is very high, but the fruit is small and less tasty. Excessive fruit consumption consumes a lot of food, and the tree is unable to form flower buds for the following year at the same time, as a result it yields poorly, and it doesn't even yield. It is possible to ensure annual fruiting by removing from the tree, in the year of abundant fruiting, parts of fruit buds. This allows you to achieve a sufficient yield in a given year and the formation of flower buds, ensuring normal fruiting in the following year. Manual thinning of the buds is performed at the end of June and in the first days of July. All damaged and small buds are removed yes, by their peduncles (tails) left on the tree. The most beautiful seedlings are always left behind – on apple and pear trees at a distance of 15…20 cm one from the other.
To improve the quality of the fruit, it is worth using fruit thinning of some varieties of plums and peaches. However, the quality of the fruit depends not only on the quantity of the fruit on the tree, but incl. also from the health of trees, their nutrition, access to light and water. Therefore, in dry and hot summers, the fruit is of lower quality. Strawberries have the greatest water requirements, wild strawberries and raspberries. In the absence of precipitation, the plants should be watered from the second half of May to the beginning of July. Frequent watering with a small amount of water does not give the expected results. It is much better to water less often, but larger doses.
