A good simple vice for carpentry work can be made from two twisted pieces of a hard board. One of them is screwed to the edge of the table. When hammering the wedge between the boards, the upper edges are pinched, a kind of vice then. This type of vise is perfect for sharpening all kinds of wood saws, machining of thin metal sheets and sections of small thickness.
