Many renovation works in an apartment require precise plumbing and leveling. Home riser is enough to draw up z 2-3 meter thin section, but a strong string, preferably splits. Attach a weight to the end of the string, e.g.. scissors, screw, nut etc.. Good though, so that the weight in the lower part has a tapered end (like scissors) accurately delineating the bottom point of the vertical line, e.g.. on the ground.
